Your office PC or older laptop still outputs VGA. The display you've got — a modern HDTV, a new monitor, a projector for the training room — only has HDMI. You're staring at a blank screen because the two ends don't speak the same language.
The Simplecom CM201 converts analog VGA to digital HDMI, up to 1920x1080@60Hz. The 3.5mm audio input lets you feed sound from your PC's headphone jack into the HDMI signal, so your display actually plays audio. Powered by USB — plug it into a wall adapter or a spare port on the PC.
Comes with a short VGA cable, a 3.5mm audio cable, and a USB power cable in the box. Plug, play, screen lights up. No drivers.
One important thing: this is VGA-to-HDMI only. It does not go the other way. And if you're on a laptop, you'll need to switch display modes (Fn + screen key) to route output through the VGA port
